Education Funding & Taxes 101 - State of the Community Series
It is one of the most time-honored functions of any chamber of commerce to provide its members both with information/education and a connection to their local & state government and/or taxing bodies.
To that end, the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce will be building toward an overall State of the Community event, beginning with a number of smaller, "breakout" sessions regarding some of the more important topics facing business owners and individuals alike.
The third of these sessions will be Education Funding & Taxes 101!
Representatives from all four local public school districts (USD 207, USD 449, USD 453, and USD 469) will be present, as well as Deputy Commissioner Dale Dennis from the Kansas State Department of Education will be providing some concise, direct information on education funding, how you are taxed for that funding, how each school district works within that funding structure, and a host of other topics.
We do not plan to be discussing questions of adequacy; merely to discuss formulas, execution thereof, and where your tax dollars go. The group will also do their best to answer your questions!
Our goal is to provide some basic information and answers so you, our members, are better informed, and so that, as we drive toward a State of the Community event, you will be able to attend and participate in a well-educated manner!
